Week 8 March 2
Destination Mars?
Discussion of the space environment of other planets in our solar system.
ASSIGNMENT:Explore the National Geographic website on Mars Exploration. Read Ch 16-17. Go outside at night and see how many constellations you can find. Use this star map to help you locate at least 3 constellations. Record the date, time, and location (Griffith Park, Manhatten Beach, Campus) and sky condition (clear, partly cloudy etc.). The star map is for LA on October 21 at 10pm local time. You can make a star map from anywhere at anytime at Heaven's Above. This link is set up for LA. For other locations you will need to enter in the new coordinates. Attend the UCLA Astronomy Planetarium Show for extra credit (http://www.astro.ucla.edu/planetarium/)
